The lake of Génos-Loudenvielle is the meeting of the amateurs of fishing, paragliding, nautical activities or ballads !
Between the lake and the village of Génos, the ancient slate
quarries, on which we walk when we make the tour of the lake. It is
seen here under the early autumn sunlight.
Other jewels left by the history
include this watchtower, known today as the Castle of Génos. It
was built in response to the unrest which the valley saw in the 9th and
10th Centuries, to watch the outlet of the gorges of Clarabide and Pez.
Throughout the valley, villages hang on every hillside. From
Bordères-Louron to Loudenvielle, or up to the pass of
Peyresourde, about ten villages people the Louron.
At the edge of axes of communication and up in the high mountains,
small or big, barns (often renewed today) are strewn throughout Louron.
Here, the climb of the pass of Peyresourde
(on 1569 m of height).
Between tradition and modernity, the other asset of the valley are its two ski resorts, Val
Louron and Peyragudes (picture).
This page is only an example of the wealth contained within the valley !
